Ekiti State Police Command has foiled a planned kidnap operation and arrested two suspects and cattle rustlers in an intelligence-led operation.The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said in a statement on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti that the suspects were arrested on July 4 by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit , VCRU, in collaboration with officers of the Ayede-Ekiti Divisional Police Headquarters and local vigilantes.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Michael Falade, has consequently ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, in a statement on Friday, stated that preliminary investigation revealed that on 3rd June, 2026 at about 9pm, three Hilux vehicles loaded with armed men in camouflage uniform allegedly accosted the LCDA chairman and one Funso Ajayi along Anoye Street, Ikere Ekiti and whisked them away.
