Fatalities saw a more significant 11.1% surge, increasing from 198 to 220. Rising Risk
Terrorism remains the most prevalent threat in Zamfara, accounting for 29 incidents between January 1 and July 1, 2026. While Kidnapping incidents also remain high with 16 cases, the data suggests a continued focus on direct confrontation and violence rather than abduction as the primary tactic for key actors.
Severity Level
The lethality of incidents in Zamfara has increased significantly, with 220 fatalities recorded between January 1 and July 1, 2026, compared to 198 in the same period last year. This represents an 11.1% rise in deaths, suggesting that security forces and civilians are facing more violent encounters.
Future Outlook
Given the upward trend in both incidents and fatalities, the security outlook for Zamfara remains concerning. The continued dominance of banditry and terrorism as primary risks, coupled with an increase in lethal outcomes, suggests that the region will likely continue to face significant security challenges in the near term.
